Episode summary

In this episode of The People-Driven CEO Podcast, Shane sits down with Han Yue, Co-Founder and COO of OHME! Foods, to talk about entrepreneurship, healthy eating, retail growth and what it takes to build a consumer brand from the ground up. Han shares how he and his wife, Jenny, started OHME! while they were both still working full-time in healthcare IT.

What began as a personal attempt to make their own healthy routines more enjoyable led them to experiment with freeze-dried fruit, share the products with friends and family and eventually discover a much larger opportunity. Just a few years later, OHME! has grown from a small side project into a Canadian snack brand carried in hundreds of retail locations. The conversation explores the realities behind that growth, including product development, getting onto retail shelves, listening closely to customers and learning when to change direction. Han shares why founders need to keep showing up, make decisions based on real feedback and data and understand that building a company often means constantly solving the next problem in front of you.

Han and Shane also discuss staying focused as opportunities grow, using technology to make a small team more effective and scaling without losing the quality of the product or the relationships behind the brand. Ultimately, Han wants OHME! to make healthy eating feel easier and more enjoyable while continuing to build a company that grows sustainably and stays connected to the people it serves.

Han Yue

Han Yue is the Co-Founder and COO of OHME! Foods, a Vancouver-based Canadian snack company creating freeze-dried fruit and yogurt snacks designed to make healthy snacking easier, more convenient and more fun.

Before starting OHME!, Han and his co-founder and wife, Jenny Yue, both worked in healthcare and health information technology. Their experience with health, combined with their own desire to build better everyday habits, eventually inspired them to begin experimenting with freeze-dried foods.

What started as a kitchen experiment and side project has grown into a rapidly expanding consumer packaged goods brand carried in hundreds of stores across North America. Han helps lead OHME!’s operations, product development, retail growth and overall strategy as the company continues expanding its reach.

His approach to entrepreneurship is grounded in curiosity, customer feedback, continuous learning and a willingness to adapt as the business evolves.
