Episode summary

In this episode of The People-Driven CEO Podcast, Shane sits down with Brent Stevenson, Founder and Co-Owner of Envision Physiotherapy, to talk about entrepreneurship, healthcare and what more than 20 years of treating people has taught him about pain and the human body.

Brent shares how he went from renting a single room inside a personal training studio to building two multidisciplinary Vancouver clinics. He and Shane unpack the realities of growing a healthcare business, taking on a second clinic just before COVID, retaining great practitioners in Vancouver and adapting as competition, social media and AI change how patients find and understand healthcare.

The conversation also goes far beyond business. Brent explains why chronic pain is often connected to stress, anxiety, fear and the nervous system, and why educating people about their bodies can sometimes be as important as physically treating them.

They also explore AI, the limits of purely mechanical healthcare and why humans may need to reconnect with the natural world as the environments we create become increasingly artificial.
